Carol Schram: Elias Pettersson sets rookie record and Thatcher Demko shines in Chicago Unwilling to go quietly into the night, the Vancouver Canucks return home to Rogers Arena with two road wins after Elias Pettersson set a new franchise rookie scoring record and Thatcher Demko delivered a standout performance in the Canucks' 3-2 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.

Great job by the rookie. I was on the "in benning we trust" for the draft and still am. Trades are a different cat 🙀 altogether.

I'd like to get a look at Linus Karlsson. See what this guy is about and if he has any top line potential.

Karlsson is going to show he can skate at a much higher level before he can prove he has NHL potential let alone top line.

Still seems like a decent prospect for a 3rd round pick but really slow.

its much more fun when people in here think that our prospects are much better than they are though.

I too enjoyed the overtime and watching Horvat & Edler expose Kane & Toews 'for what they really are'.

Quinn Hughes is basically Bobby Orr, despite the fact that he has never played a game yet!

Media was different back then. They didn't follow the same formulaic rules they use now.

But....Doug Harvey.

You'd give your left nut for either of Kane or Toews. Horvat is an excellent player, and got the slip on Toews for the OT-GWG.
The Hawks have 10 OTL/SOL games this year otherwise they'd be in the #7 or #8 spot.
Part of that was coaching, the other part was personel. It appears that the coaching change has helped as did the Strome/Perlini deal. I'd love to see the Chicago-Vancouver rivalry return. Minus a Burrows 2.0 or a Bieksa 2.0. Kessler has for now given Anaheim some good minutes.
The garbage play of those 3 always made each game a cheap shot fest. The Hawks were the least penalized team in the league for most of their good years, so it wasn't the Hawks doing the scrumming.
Let's toast to better days ahead for both teams

Pierre Pilot, Doug Harvey both were puck moving defenseman and unusual for that era.
Orr had people to protect him because the game was different, Hugh's will need a stay at home partner until he fills out. I think Kakko is a better pick, but you Vancouver folks love your brother-brother act. Both will be long gone so no worries

$21MM worth of half-ass commitment to defense? Ya, no thanks.

Canucks also happen to have 10 OTL this year so does that mean we'd be tied?

Bolland, Burish, Byfuglien. And those are just the ones that start with B. Don't kid yourself. Hawks were every bit the cheap shot artists that the Canucks were, if not more so. They were just granted more leeway by the league in an attempt to revive a market that had been abused by papa Wirtz for so many years.

Kelser is a total sh1thead though. So at least we agree on that!

I’d take Kane anyday but not Toews at his contract.

Expose Kane and Toews for what they really are??
You mean two first ballot hall of famers?
Great job on exposing two world class players
